クーデター（coup d’état）とは、ある国の政府から、突然、しばしば暴力的な手段で、違法に権力を奪取することです。
ベネズエラの政情不安は火曜日、首都カラカスの政府省庁や最高裁判所の建物を警察のヘリコプターで攻撃し、さらに燃え上がった。
ニコラス・マドゥロ大統領はこの事件を、クーデターを企てるテロリストによる攻撃と断定した。 当局によると、裁判官の会議が行われていた裁判所の建物にヘリコプターから手榴弾4発が投下され、懇親会が行われていた内務省の建物には数発の銃声が響いたという。
大統領の人気はここ数カ月低下しており、野党指導者は彼を石油資源の豊富な州の経済を破壊した独裁者と見ている。
